Isaac's Friends

Bringing love & laughter to children when they need it the most

Become a Child Advocate:

You can help hundreds of sick and injured children by becoming a Child Advocate for Isaac's Friends. As a Child Advocate, you will interact with hospitalized children on a one-to-one basis in order to show them support and compassion during their difficult circumstances. You will enjoy a broad range of fun activities with the children such as playing video games, coloring, drawing, board games or simply reading to them. Not only do the children benefit from your time together, but the families as well. Imagine being a parent with your child lying in a hospital bed and having an Isaac's Friends Child Advocate bring a smile to your child's face, helping them to forget about the fear and pain they are experiencing - you truly are making a difference in their lives. If you would like to make a powerful, positive impact on the lives of children in your community, we would be honored to have you on our team.*

"As an Isaac's Friends Child Advocate, servicing the Greenville Children Hospital, I love walking into a child's room and seeing their faces light up when I ask them to play! Sometimes I'll read to them or just talk. I might be able to take them down to the playroom to play games or draw. I've spent time talking to and holding an infant while he fell back to sleep when he was alone. As a mother of two children, I know how it would make them feel during a scary time and how it would help them to feel special and cared for." - Summer

"A year ago was I introduced to Isaac's Friends.  I can honestly say that this program is the most rewarding organization that I have worked with.  I give three hours a week to the children and their families at Greenville Memorial Hospital and I have gained such an appreciation for those who are able to alleviate pain in others time of need.  It is such a joy to be a part of this. Volunteering is one of the most taxing things a person can do.  It takes much time, energy and compassion, but R. W. Emerson so eloquently said, "It is one of the most beautiful compensations in life...we can never help another without helping ourselves." As an advocate for the children, the volunteers of Isaac's Friends take their minds off the displeasing aspects of hospital visits, allow them to be kids, and let healing begin." - Sandi

The events/activities volunteers are people that help with special occasion events such as fund raisers, community service projects and raising awareness. We keep you up to date via email about upcoming events and when you see something that you are able to help with, you sign up. There are ongoing projects as well (such as Coke points, Bi-Lo cards, Cans For Kids, etc.). We also do support work for the Ronald McDonald House and the Shriners Hospital by helping with various fund raisers throughout the year. Check the calendar on the EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES page for a current schedule of volunteer opportunities. Thank you for your support!
